Well I figured it was about time I updated this blog. In May of this year I was promoted to General Manager at the Hampton Inn. Perfect timing after graduating with my Bachelors in Hotel, Resort and Hospitality Management. So far it has been the most amazing job and I feel so lucky to have it. Hilton requires a certain amount of training before I became an official GM so I got to travel a ton this summer. My biggest trips were to Memphis, TN and Orlando, FL. I went to Orlando in October and had the most amazing weather. It was a 5 day conference on new things for the brand and how to be the best leader I can be. I met a ton of amazing people including Marcus Buckingham!! They also closed down Sea World for us and had incorporated "Hampton" things throughout the park. It was such a fun week - the only thing that was missing was Derek : (. He surprised my by painting my wall purple - something I had been longing for for a while now and I just love it.

Infertility At It's Finest!

Well April is Infertility Awareness Month and it's quite ironic that three years ago on April 1st Derek and I decided we wanted to start our family... now it's 2011 and it's just the two of us. Our story is like most infertile couples. We fell in love and decided to wed on November 24th, 2006. We had big dreams for our life ahead... spend some honeymoon time with just the two of us, do some traveling, and then start a family. No where in our plan did infertility have a place. After a very long year of inconsistency we ventured to my OBGYN for some answers. We started a ton of tests until it was discovered that I suffered from PCOS a disorder that causes ovaries to not ovulate making it almost impossible to conceive. The one thing I feared most was happening to ME... INFERTILITY!! I cried... a lot. In public, in private it didn't matter. I was crushed and filled with anger, sadness, guilt, and hopelessness and many others. At that moment I had no idea what long road I had in front of me. The year to follow was the hardest of my life. We tried a few procedures on me and I started experimenting with many medications to see if any would help... but none did. We were going no where but deeper into medical debt. To make matters worse my insurance would not cover a thing.... not even my DR visits. Between the expenses and the painful procedures we decided to take a break. The great thing is that I married an amazing man who has not once blamed me, but I'm not gonna lie it kills me to think that because of me he may never be a father. Have we thought about adoption? YES! What about IFV? That too, but right now we are trying to find our path in life and see what option is best and how will we be able to afford it. I know God has a plan for us, but I'm having a hard time being patient... it is NOT one of my strengths. So far it's been a trying three years for us filled with heartache and despair and I know the road in front of us is not much better... I'm just glad I have my best friend to help me through the nights where all I want to do is cry. To all my friends/family members/and any other mothers I want you to know that I am happy for you and your baby even though I may not show it. It's difficult to express joy for others when you go through infertility, but I truly am happy for you and the miracle God has blessed you with. For now I'm an aunt and may always be, but I'm pretty lucky to have 5 nephews to help care for.

Merry Christmas everybody! Hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas like we did. Derek totally surprised me with this little beauty. Meet Polly my Welther P22 hand gun in light pink. Oh I how I love her so much. I never was into shooting all that much until I got my own gun. She is really easy to shoot and handle. We have only been out shooting a couple of times but it has been so much fun. My sister in law got a pink gun also so together we are going to get our concealed weapons permit. We are both super excited!

As a Hotel Management major we study a lot of hotel properties around the country. One class in particular studied the Hilton Costa Mesa hotel in sunny California. After the long semester I felt the need to go visit this property with my hubby for a little fun and relaxation. It ended up being such a fun trip. I'm so glad that we went. The first two days were so beautiful the sun was shining and it was in the 80's. We checked into our hotel which was very nice. The first day we went and visited some important things from my childhood in Newport Beach. We did a ton of shopping and walking around seein the sights. We went to Balboa island where my dad used to live. It's this cute little man made island that you get to by ferry that has little boutiques and these small million dollar homes. We also went to Disneyland... Derek had never been... it was a little cloudy and chilly but so, so fun. We also got to see our good friends that moved down there for school. The whole trip was so fun and exciting and such a good break from every day life.

So this year for Thanksgiving we celebrated with Derek's family up north in Lehi where Desi and Jared and Dusty and Emmi live. The first night up north Derek and I celebrated our 4th anniversary which was Wednesday. Cant believe it has been four years. It seems like just yesterday when we were dating. Later that night or morning I guess, Derek's sister Desi went into labor and our newest nephew was born around 3:30 am on Thanksgiving!!! He is such a doll and such a joy to our family. Soon two more nephews will be born and Derek and I couldn't be more happy or excited. So since Desi had little Treven we ate Thanksgiving on Friday which was actually really fun. The whole weekend turned out to be a blast hanging with family and friends. Hope everyone else had a great Thanksgiving too.

This Time of Year

I absolutely love this time of year. All the leaves are falling off and the air is crisp and school is almost out. Our fourth anniversary is coming up on the 24th and I feel like four years have flown by. We have been so blessed to do some amazing things together. I can't wait for school to get out so that we can take a vacation to Cali to relax and see our friends. I'm getting way excited for Christmas... even thought it is a couple months away. It's hard to not get excited when you walk into Walmart and they have isles of Christmas decorations and are playing Christmas music already. I promised Derek I wouldn't start decorating until December 1st. Hope everyone has a great thanksgiving!

I must say that I am the worst blogger ever! Basically my life is the same every day: wake up bright and early and go to work, half way through work change in my car and go to school for several hours, get back in my car to change and finish work, after work drive home to hours of homework, make dinner, occasionally clean something or do laundry, then back to homework. Seriously this is my life. I have turned into a big loser. The only exciting thing is that Derek and I love our house. We moved in at the end of June and have loved every minute of it. We still have little things here and there that need to be put away, but its really starting to feel like home. We have the best neighbors and we just love our ward. Der works with the young men and is soooo good at it. My brother is doing great at the MTC. He has been there officially two weeks, but I'm ready for him to be home. Well I must stop blogging so I can finish my homework. Hope everyone is doing good!

Mission Call!!!!!

My brother Ethan is going on a mission!!!! We opened his call last night and discovered he is going to the Kennewick, Washington mission and he will teach in the Spanish language. I cannot believe that this day is finally here. Im freaking out a bit. I dont know if I am ready to have him leave for 2 years, but he is super excited and ready to get to work. I am so proud of him and cant wait for this amazing experience to bless his life. Love ya brotha!!!!

Feeling Thankful

Today I am feeling thankful. Im thankful for my family. I have some of the best siblings and parents. One of the great things about being married is that I get to have more parents and more siblings. Im thankful for my husband. He is so perfect for me and he works so hard so that I can get the things that I want. I love him very much. Im thankful for my dog, Harley. She is the best dog ever and we love her soooooo much. Im thankful for my house and Im thankful for all those who have contributed to building it. Im thankful for our friends. Im thankful for my job and Im even thankful for all those guest who feel it necessary to complain to me. It makes me work harder to fix any problems. Im thankful for my husbands job and the fact that he can provide for us. Im thankful for trials in my life. Right now its hard to see why I have to go through some things but I know that I will be blessed in the end. Im thankful for our new neighbors who are extremely nice and Im thankful for our new ward. Everyone has been so welcoming. Im thankful for all other things that I cannot think of right now!!!!!!

My little sister Shannon tried out for Cedar Highs Drill Team Mohey Tawa and made it!!!!! I have never been so proud. I had tears in my eyes when I saw her number on the board. She basically is an amazing dancer and such a fast learner and soooo talented. I cant wait to see her progress. Its so shocking to me that she is old enough for high school. Its crazy how fast time goes. My lil sis is growing up so fast it makes me sad and excited at the same time.

1. I love to travel and see new places. I would really like to visit all the countries before I die.

2. Growing up I wanted to be a model, singer, FBI Agent, Vet, and a doctor. I will be none of these.

3. Im obsessed with music. I download new songs everyday and cannot drive, get ready, or clean without it.

4. I love animals especially dogs and horses.

5. I love to eat. Im not a picky eater and will try almost everything.

6. I wouldnt mind getting stranted on a island with Derek and never getting rescued.

7. Im pretty boring. My idea of a good time is curling up on my couch and watching a movie with those I love.

8. I used to be a great student until I got to college.

9. I hate dresses. The only time I wear one is to church. My idea of dressing up is some hot jeans with heels.

10. Speaking of heels... I LOVE shoes. Any kind! I love them all.

11. My cousins are some of my best friends. Now that Im married I have more cousins from my hubbys side and I love them soooo much and wish they lived closer!

12. I love the lake and laying out in the sun.

13. Laughing is the best thing on the planet. I think laughter can make anyone feel better.

14. I could not live without makeup and I never leave the house without it. It does wonders for me.

Movin Fast

Well the house is coming along so great and so quickly. We already love our neighbors and the area. Der is having a great time doing most of the work. He is gonna learn so much. We feel so blessed to be able to build a house at such a young age. Thank you to everyone who has helped so far. As of today we have the basement walls poured and are working on the basement floor. I cannot wait for it to be done.

We are finally doing it. We are building a house! Derek and I are both really excited and anxious. We are hoping we will start digging at the first of January and be finished by June 30. Thats not much time, but we are going to attempt it. Our lot is on Marble Canyon Dr. with a great view of the Rodeo Grounds!

Catching Up!

So I have been a slacker on my blogging. Alot has happened in the last little while. I got promoted at work to be the Assistant Manager. Im really excited because I have all these new responsibilities and I'll get to work in the mornings. Derek and I will finally get to spend our evenings together. A couple of weeks ago Derek went up to The Crawford Mountain to go hunting. He had been putting in for this tag for quite some time. Unfortunatley he didn't see any big deer and was quite dissapointed. While he was away, I went up to Logan to spend time with cousins and friends. It was a great week. Now we are just gettin ready for christmas and snowmobiling!

Lake Powell was once again awesome. My family came over for a couple days and it was great to spend time with them. The weather was awesome and the sun was super hot. I really think I could live there.

Keith Urban was AMAZING in concert. I went with a great friend from school. It was by far the best concert I have ever been too. We had pretty great seats which makes it even better. If you are a fan of his you definently need to see him live.

Harley joined our family really quickly. Derek and I have wanted a dog for quite some time now and we finally decided to do it. After lots of research and viewing hundreds of dogs on KSL we found Harley. She is a Shiranian which is a Shih Tzu and a Pomeranian mixed. Its crazy how much I love her already and we just got her Sunday. She is gonna be SPOILED.

Other than that our lives mostly consist of work and watching the Office.

Physical Therapy

... Derek has finally decided on a major... Physical Therapy with an emphasis in sports medicine. We are both super excited and feel great about it. Im happy that my hubby has finally decided. It's been rough lately because his dad really wants him to take over the business, and although Derek is amazing at it, it just didn't make him happy. I couldn't imagine going through life hating your job. So Derek is going back to school...for a while unfortunately... but in the end it will be totally worth it. I can't wait to see where this job will take us.

Senses lost and the things I take for granted

I have been sick for about two weeks now and it has been rough. A couple days into it, my loving husband bought me some Zicam nose gel. Instead of reading the directions, I put the gel in and sniffed it up. Well apparently you are not supposed to do this because it burns your sinuses. So for about 8 hours I was in the most pain I have ever been in. I bawled the entire time. Now two weeks later, I cannot smell or taste anything. I am so afraid that I have lost my senses FOREVER!!!! So lately I have been thinking about the things I take for granted and how I can make them better.
1. My Husband: Sometimes I feel like I never praise him enought for ALL that he does for me. He is always there to listen to all my problems, fears, regrets, etc... He is my best friend and I love him more than anything in this world and Im going to work on being a better friend to him.
2. My House: Im always looking around for new things to decorate with or update instead of being thankful that I even have a house.
3. The opportunity to go to college. I seem to complain more about my classes and homework and tests than I am thankful that I get to further my education and become a better person. Im going to lessen my complaining and find more good at SUU.
4. Complaining about everything. This is my biggest weakness, I voice ALL my complaints. It is so hard to be around people who complain non stop and are constatly ornery. I don't know what my deal is, but it's a problem for me. I never look for the good. I only see the bad and then I tell everyone about it. Sorry everyone who has had to hear me complain. Im really gonna work on it.

Meet Sam. He joined our family last week and I really love him. He has been such a great phone. He gets me my email as soon as it is sent, he plays the best music, and is great at texting. Snowmobiling!

Derek, Rob, and Dusty went over to Beaver to do some snowmobiling with some work buddies. They had a great time and the snow was awesome. Then for Valentines day, Derek and I, and Dusty and Emmi went snowmobiling to Brian Head for dinner. It was really fun, but really cold. It was -17 degrees and anyone who knows me knows that I hate being cold. It was fun though.

I finally got the job I have been wanting since August. I will now be working at the Hampton Inn and I am so excited to get my foot into this industry and be a part of the Hilton family. So currently I have 2 jobs. Im still working at Spirit, which I absolutly love. All the people there are so fun to be around. I am also going to school with 15 credits and cleaning two houses a week. Life right now is super crazy. I barely get to see my husband, which sucks, but I am learning a lot and loving it.

Derek had the opportunity to go to Vegas and watch BJ Penn and George St. Pierre battle it out at a UFC fight. He had such a great time with his cousins and his brother. Of course GSP won so it was a great day. Thanks Hanna brothers for takin Derek. We love and appreciate all you do.

My New Job

I did it. I finally got a job. Derek has been nagging me for months to get a job. I guess all my TV watching was driving him crazy. Hey I am a sucker for MTV and VH1 which are mostly filled with trash shows that make me feel better about myself. Anyway... I now work at Spirit Fitness. I am really excited because I need to get in shape and hopefully motivating others will help motivate me. So come visit me. I'll be the girl at the counter saying, "Welcome to Spirit. Have a great workout"!!!

Lakers Game

Since the Staples center was only 3 blocks from out hotel, Derek and I decided to scalp some tickets and go to a Lakers game. It was so much fun. It was a very intense game which makes it even better. The Lakers trailed behind the Knicks almost the whole game, but pulled through in the end.

We had such a fun time in Hollywood. We got to see and do a whole lot. We went down the Walk of Fame and toured Hollywood hills. We went to the Kodak theater where they hold American Idol and the Academy Awards.

Derek and I decided to go to Los Angeles for a couple of days. It rained the majority of the time but we had a ton of fun. We went to Venice beach and rode bikes, went to Hollywood and did the Walk of Fame and then saw some Stars houses, and also went to a Lakers game.
Derek also had the opportuinty to take an amazing aptitude test. It turned out to be a great experience for him. On our way home we hit a major storm and ended up having to stay another night. We were stuck on the freeway for 6 hours only moving a mile. It pretty much sucked, but other than that the whole trip was a blast. Im so happy we got to get away for a couple of days.

Derek and I went to St. George to play with Mike and Jess. We all went to Zion and saw Twilight, for the third time, on the IMAX. After the movie, Derek and Mike thought they were Edward and were running around like crazy guys. Then they got fresh with an indian statue. We went back to Mike and Jess's house for a game of American Idol. One word describes our husbands... Amazing. Jess and I refrained from the singing and became the cheerleaders. It was a super fun night.

Life's Little Mistakes!

So the other day I had my Pine candle on the candle warmer on the edge of my kitchen counter. That was mistake number 1. Then I decided to take the trash out and I knocked over the candle which was mistake number 2. It spilled all over. I didn't know if I should cry or scream. Derek and I just stood there in shock. Three hours later the floor was clean.

Sadly DeAnna didn't pick Jason, the guy I was rooting for from the beginning. Well good news; Jason gets to redeem himself by becoming the next Bachelor. I am so excited! Party at my house every Monday night!
